Search engine optimization, more commonly known as SEO, refers to the process of optimizing websites for search engines. Through SEO, you can make your website known by making use of tools and techniques that can help it land on top of search engine results pages, also known as SERPs. What is the relevance of this? Let’s look at it this way: when you look up the sky on a clear evening, you find millions and millions of bright stars, shining stars that catch your fancy. Unless you are informed and well ‘versed’ on the constellations and all that stuff, you really cannot isolate one particular star and make sure that that is what you are looking for. Same thing with the world wide web, considering the millions of websites now developed and existing for web users to browse and use. If you key in a single word as a keyword in a search engine, and it happens to be a common English term, you won’t be surprised at all to find that there are millions of websites that have content related to your search word, and you may end up not knowing which ones you should explore. The tendency is to settle for the first one on the list, or probably any of the first few yielded results. This is where SEO comes in. With millions of free website possibilities, your website may be swallowed up by the whole myriad of ‘stars’ and might end up not being browsed by millions of your possible clients. If you are in business, that’s a whole lot of loss for you. Still not convinced? Here are four more reasons why SEO is a must for your website:
1. Duplicity and multiplicity of websites. I am guessing your website is similar in theme and content to thousands of other websites on the internet. It is now very rare to find novel ideas and new topics, considering that most of our ideas nowadays are also just inspired by thousands of ideas previously cooked up. This being so, you will expect free website templates to be the same in style, content and/ or theme. With SEO you get a step ahead of similar websites, provided you know how to explore keywords, titles and tags to work to your site’s best advantage.
2. Anonymity is fatal. Is your website for business purposes or for fun and entertainment? It does not really matter. An unviewed, unvisited website spells not only trouble, but doom. Your website purpose will go down the drain if you have no website visitors who get to view it. Think SEO and never let your website be gobbled up by anonymity.
3. Marketing your biz is a must. If your website is for business, you need to be known and perform well in your market. You may have the best products and the most efficient services, but if web users know nothing about it, then it’s your loss. They will settle for what’s available to them not knowing that your products are way better.
4. Exploring global possibility. You need not be confined to your local market. With the internet and savvy SEO techniques, you can expand your horizons and make your business known on a global scale. People from other parts of the world may be in need of your unique products and the only way they can discover you is through the internet, vis-a-vis effective SEO.

Search engine optimization, or SEO, is now considered a very popular way of promoting websites by optimizing them for search engines. What does that mean? Let’s say you have a word or topic in mind. What do you do? You go to your preferred search engine, and key in that word, or phrase, in order for that search engine to help you search for websites related to your topic and list them. In a few seconds, the search engine yields thousands, even millions, of free websites that are related to your search word or phrase. In less than half a minute, you get to see millions of possible websites – some created with free website templates – where you can find the information you need. For those familiar with SEO, this page is called an SERP, or the search engine results page.
An SEO newbie? Do not fret. Many of us are not really that familiar with SEO. Most of those familiar with SEO, or at least trying to be familiar with it, are those who intently want to promote their websites to more and more people. There is no question that business websites are first on the list of websites that need to go into SEO, in order to make more people know about their business, products and/ or services.
If you are new in the world of SEO, here are some of the points you need to fully familiarize yourself with:
Keyword optimization. Getting the right keyword is one of the most important things in SEO. If you make use of the right keywords for your website, you can be assured of higher rankings in search engine results pages. If you have such high rankings, more and more web users will be able to view your website. Combined with fab web design and high quality content, you can be certain these website visitors will return and recommend your website to others.Content relevance. You may have the best keywords and long tail keywords, but if your web pages are disappointing and contain no relevant information for web users, your high ranking through SEO will surely be put to waste. Web users will know the difference between a useful website and one that is useless to them.Healthy landing pages. A landing page is the page that web users first see when they click on your link as displayed in SERPs. Your landing page need not be your home page. It should be the page containing the relevant info pertaining to the keyword or phrase searched. It should not only be relevant, but should also contain other elements that can help your website sell, like promotions, freebies, special offers and other marketing strategies you can optimize online.Linking pages. Maximize the use of relevant links that can bring in more web visitors to your website. You direct your website visitors to other relevant and useful sites, and they can link back to you and help increase your web traffic that way.View the original article here

The internet contains millions and millions of websites designed to cater to specific needs and wants of web users from all over the world – both website owners and website visitors. From the viewpoint of website owners (and/ or makers), you seek to create websites that are for businesses, for educational purposes, for some organizational purposes, for entertainment purposes, or to provide communications. It will seek to sell your product or service, and tell the world wide web about your company and what it can do for people or for other companies as well. It will help share information and resources needed for the academe, helping both teachers and students. It can enable organizations to tell the world what they are, what they are doing and how they can be helped in achieving their noble and worthy purposes. Many free websites help provide links to people sharing the same interests and/ or goals, or just simply allow communication between and among family and friends to be linked and renewed, as what major social networking sites are now successfully doing.
But what can be more personal than a personal website? Something you create for and about yourself? A portal containing a piece of you that you intend to share with others on the web? Should you decide to create a personal website, what essential content should there be to make it both attractive and functional?
1. Adequate information, depending on the nature of your personal website. How personal is personal? That depends on the nature of your website. If it is a blog site where you seek to share your innermost thoughts and sentiments, you can probably just limit the info up to what you want your readers to know, probably just some random facts of not much consequence. If it is a personal profile website, however, where you seek to land jobs, assignments and projects, like a model portfolio or an online resume, then providing sufficient info about your professional background, skills and credentials will be the best way to go.
2. Lots of photographs, good photographs. It may be photographs of you, or photographs by you, or photographs of others expressing your sentiments. Again, it would depend on the purpose of your website but it is a major trend in web design today to include vivid photographs that make websites really pretty. If you choose to set up a website using free website templates there are actually thousands now available fully loaded with beautiful photographs.
3. An ‘about me’ page as well as a hip comment page. You will do better if you know what website visitors think about your website. That way you know how to improve, modify or update your web design in a way that best suits your personal website and at the same time caters to your intended website audience.
4. Great, useful links. A personal website should, above all, provide some kind of reflection on the website owner – you. Be it about your credentials, your hobbies or your special talents, keep in mind that the web is rich with other related websites that may provide useful resources likewise to your website visitors. Take the opportunity to provide links and make an effort likewise to suggest to other websites and help provide links to your own.

You have probably noticed that business enterprises have now opted to be linked to the internet, and be part of the vast world wide web by creating free websites that will help promote their businesses on the internet. It seems that if you now refuse to join the bandwagon in establishing a website that will feature your own business, it is practically like committing business suicide, and you end up being thrown to complete anonymity both on the web and in your local market as well. These days it is not so hard, given the many choices of free website templates for business.
Businesses of today really no longer need much explanation nor encouragement to have their own portals on the internet. A savvy businessman of today will know that it is now a necessity to conduct internet or online marketing, if he wants to maintain his company’s good standing and competitiveness. Decades ago, web marketing is a concept very much foreign to most companies, especially those that are considered small businesses or those of medium-scale. They just do their marketing the usual way – billboards, flyers, banners, media advertising or simply by word-of-mouth or good recommendations. Now, it seems not being on the internet for a business is quite unheard of – most business enterprises from small ones to huge companies – try to get their own special spots on the web. Why should business companies now learn more about internet marketing?
